Freshfields wins ‘Finance Team of the Year’ at The Lawyer Awards 2017

Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP (‘Freshfields’) has won ‘Finance Team of the Year’ at The Lawyer Awards 2017, which is run by The Lawyer magazine. The awards celebrate excellence across the legal profession and honour those who have made significant contributions across private practice, in-house legal departments and the bar.
The firm was presented with the award for its work advising TPG on the €1.4bn refinancing of P3 Logistic Parks, which controls 3.3m sq. m. of warehouse space across Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia and Spain. The judges took particular note of the team’s innovative approach to the use of portability in the financing arrangements and the fact that the debt facilities were structured in a way that meant when TPG sold the business, debt would not be repayable on a change of control.
The Freshfields team was led by partner David Trott, with support from Tom Wallis, Alexandra Caddy and Julia Horbach. The refinancing enabled the subsequent sale of P3 Logistic Parks for €2.4bn, on which the firm, with a team led by Alex Watt, also advised. The award was presented at a dinner at Grosvenor House Hotel in London on 27 June 2017.
