The Financial Times names Freshfields as one of Europe’s most innovative law firms

Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP (‘Freshfields’) has been named one of Europe’s most innovative law firms according to a new report, ‘FT Innovative Lawyers Europe 2017’, produced by the Financial Times and RSG Consulting. The ranking covers innovations in areas such as support for the rule of law and access to justice, the business of law and legal expertise.
In ranking Freshfields third of the top 50 most innovative law firms, the Financial Times looked at significant technical developments led by the firm over the last 12 months. This includes its work on Hutchison and Veon’s joint venture for the merger of Three and Wind Italia, the sale of CityPoint Tower in London, for which senior associate Roger Schofield was singled out for special commendation, the sale of Formula One to Liberty Media, and the financing of two highways in Slovakia.
Additionally, the ranking takes into account Freshfields’ associate innovation group, which utilises the creativity and energy of the firm’s associates across the world to drive innovation forwards. It also takes into account the firm’s use of data analytics, which was developed by the innovation department and Freshfields’ Legal Services Centre to drive efficiency for clients.
Commenting on the ranking, Freshfields’ Global Head of Legal Services Innovation, Isabel Parker, said, “Nurturing innovation at all levels across Freshfields continues to be a priority for us as clients increasingly look to the firm for pioneering solutions to their business challenges. Our approach encourages collaboration between our clients, our lawyers and our business services teams and ensures that we continue to innovate in a way that is tailored to our clients and their business models. We are delighted that our efforts to date have been recognised in this way.”
