Freshfields advises Saint-Gobain on the sale of its distribution activity in Germany

Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP (‘Freshfields’) is advising Saint-Gobain on the sale of its stake in Saint-Gobain Building Distribution Deutschland (‘SGBDD’) to Stark Group A/S, a leading Nordic building materials retailer and distributor based in Denmark. 
 
The closing of the transaction is subject to the antitrust approval by the European Commission, expected during the second half of 2019. 
 
SGBDD, which includes well-known German brands such as Raab Karcher, Keramundo and Fliesen Discount, operates a network of 220 branches in Germany with approximately 5,000 employees and generated revenues of nearly €2bn in 2018.
