Freshfields advises Swerts family and 3d Investors on the acquisition of a minority stake in Studio 100

Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP (‘Freshfields’) has advised the Swerts family ('Soudal') and 3d Investors on the acquisition of a stake of approximately 25 per cent in Studio 100, one of the largest independent providers of family entertainment in Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and worldwide animation studios in Australia, Germany, France and the United States.  
 
Studio 100 builds 360° concepts around characters such as Samson & Gert, K3, Bumba and Maya the Bee among others. It also develops and produces television programmes, audio/video and book publications, theatre shows, musicals, merchandising and amusement and aqua parks.
 
Soudal was founded by Vic Swerts and has become the largest European independent manufacturer of sealants, adhesives and polyurethane foam for professional and private use.  It currently employs over 3,100 employees worldwide and has 19 production facilities on five continents.
 
3d investors is a Belgian family office of the Donck family and was founded in 1992. It is a long-term shareholder in a number of listed groups, several non-listed companies, and 3d Real Estate.
