Freshfields partners with mental health platform to support wellbeing

Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer (‘Freshfields’) UK and MENA has partnered with Unmind, a workplace mental health and wellbeing app, to enable its partners and employees to proactively measure and manage their mental wellbeing.

The Unmind platform will offer Freshfields colleagues access to tools created by experts in neuroscience, cognitive behavioural therapy, mindfulness and positive psychology. It includes tailored mental health support and personalised suggestions, from focus and mediation exercises in the morning, to using sleep and unwind tools at night. Partners and employees can access the platform from any device, at any time, and use it to understand and assess their wellbeing, and track how it changes over time.

“Mental wellbeing is, and will remain, an important topic of conversation at Freshfields. Given all of the additional uncertainty we are now living with, and the changes in ways of working, it is more important than ever to look after our mental health and support those around us. I’m excited that our partnership with Unmind will significantly add to the range of wellbeing resources the firm has in place already to support our mental health,” said Claire Wills, London managing partner.

“The platform will empower our people in the UK and MENA to manage their mental health in a proactive and preventative way and is a key part of our broader focus on wellbeing at Freshfields,” added Victoria Hills, partner and UK mental health sponsor.

Freshfields has trained more than 260 employees globally in mental health first aid and has surpassed its target of 1 in 25 of its people trained in mental health first aid skills. The firm has also signed the Mindful Business Charter, a collaboration between banks and leading law firms committed to promoting better mental health and wellbeing in the workplace. In response to COVID-19 the firm introduced a specialised ‘Wellbeing Hub’ which acts as a ‘one stop shop’ providing targeted and tailored support for anyone in the firm who needs it.
